I found myself approaching 40. A beer belly. Withered arms. Lack of cardiovascular fitness and a shell of my younger self.
This is not where I wanted to find myself at 40 but the hustle and bustle of balancing work and life had taken its toll.
I needed a change. I decided to invest in myself by hiring a personal trainer with a goal to learn new skills, push limits, and position myself for a stronger future by starting with myself.
In came Sean. He quickly helped set our benchmarks, and we got to work. We started with the fundamentals of strength and conditioning training, where I quickly learnt proper form.
We were consistent and training was well structured. It challenged me and results soon followed. My lean muscle mass improved, my physical appearance gradually transformed in the mirror, energy levels and confidence increased, and the results came.
I set personal records across all lifts, breaking limits I hadn’t achieved in my 20’s; I never thought I’d be capable of squatting 405lbs, but through repetition, structure, and a great trainer, I was able to push my physical limits, I didn’t know would be possible.
I formed positive habits that translated into work and life and didn’t let excuses get in the way of our training schedule. Training was dynamic, fun, challenging, and improved my overall well-being.

Sean Mason is hands down one of the best strength and conditioning coaches I’ve worked with. I trained with him three times a week for an entire year, and the progress I made far exceeded anything I expected when I first signed up.
Sean’s depth of knowledge in kinesiology and exercise science is exceptional. He doesn’t just tell you what to do, he explains why you’re doing it and how each movement benefits your body. His ability to connect the science to the practice made every session both educational and motivating.

A few years ago, I was in search of a personal trainer. At the time, all I really wanted was to gain a bit of muscle, something I had struggled to do for myself the past 5 or so years of going to the gym alone. It was a vague goal, not the most inspiring, but thats what I wanted. And I was curious if a trainer could do what I alone couldn't. By chance, the first trainer I found was Sean.
Fast forward a year and a half, everything had changed. I went from 135 lbs to 160 lbs, the largest and most substantial change of my life. So the initial goal was achieved, but it was everything else that impressed me.
In getting to know me, Sean made me delve deeper into WHY I wanted what I wanted. My goal of gaining muscle is a common one, but in my specific case, it was shallow. In truth, I wanted to feel strong, competent, and to negate the negative effects of my new office job. I just hadn't questioned myself deeply enough to realize this. Sean figured all that out almost immediately.
He had me focus on my balance, making me far less awkward, more intentional, and way more confident in my daily life. I was getting injured less and became able to do more things I had never thought iId be able to do before. He even got me into bouldering, someone who couldn't even do a single pull-up before.
His knowledge changed the way I approached working out. The most insignificant question I had would turn into a well described biology lesson about the body's recovery process, and he threw around terms and concepts that gave me full confidence that I was going to achieve what I wanted, rather than hoping things would change if I just "showed up" like I had been doing for years to no results. I knew why I was doing each exercise now, when to switch up routines, and when to suck it up and try harder.
There were no excuses with Sean either. When I showed up with a fresh new tattoo sleeve all wrapped up, he just had me working everything else instead.
Knowledge, accountability, confidence, injury prevention, results... Sean gave me all of this and more. If that's not what you're looking for in a PT, what is?

We’ve worked together on preseason ski season training for injury mitigation, as well as rehabbing injuries that occur in activity.
